The Schwartz & Schwartz Drug Store has all of the old patent medicines that were once so common in this country.
The extravagant claims made by the manufacturers can only be described as outrageous in the face of modern medical knowledge. Many of these concoctions contain a fair amount of alcohol, so perhaps the "patient" did feel a little less pain after all!
The drug store building itself was built for the museum by the Noon Lion's Club of Fort Dodge and was modeled after the building that served as the original military hospital at the government fort here in the early 1850's.
