The E Company Barracks is home to the museum volunteers who portray the soldiers that were stationed at the original military fort in 1850.
Visitors to the museum are surprised to learn that twelve men could be housed in such a small space. The soldiers of 1850 slept two to a bunk, head to foot, and were required by army regulation to wash their feet at least twice a week! Soldiers were issued hay twice a month for mattress stuffing and the bunks could be disassembled and scrubbed once a month.
